Condolences to the family. I know personally about losing a child. Since there is no way to remove all possibilities of risk when you are in an area that could possibly be dangerous, the only alternative is permanent closure. That is the ultimate result of these law suits.

UW Law graduate of '02.

LOVE and completely agree with you recommendations regarding treating every course as preparation for the bar and learning trial craft from first-hand observation.

I don't think any law student necessarily enters law for the money. Most, from my experience, want to have some effect on life; on the status quo. That too, I believe, requires a recognition of the same "compromises and sacrifices" you mention in concert with law's reputation as a jealous mistress. Your effect as an attorney -- an of our effects -- will never have been as clear as we would have liked; will always require compromise and sacrifice. But, in the end, it was that hope, the hope that we CAN facilitate change, that brought us to law.

Great observations, John. From one of the "future" generations (now a past generation, too): thank you.

Don't talk to a stranger is one of the foremost practices that a lot of families try to instill in children when it comes to guarding personal safety. If you nurture an open relationship with your children from a very young age, they will learn to feel comfortable talking to you about almost anything because they feel confident and secure. And the fist step in ensuring your child safety is proper education in order to protect them from strangers and kidnapping. It is essential that you teach them about stranger danger. Children are vulnerable in the face of danger, and it's your responsibility as a parent to guide them, to protect them from harm. For further knowledge on how you can protect your children. You can visit this link, it's very interesting: http://anationofmoms.com/2011/08/protect-your-family-giveaway.html

I am a firm believer in citizen access to our court system, and have been concerned about efforts by lobbies such as the US Chamber to limit said access. However, I was initially disturbed by the newspaper (Oregonian) story which simply stated that the Boardman estate is suing the Park Service (NPS) for $10 million. The story neglected to mention that there had been numerous complaints about this aggressive mountain goat, and that the NPS failed to take any corrective action.
Therefore, I wish you and the Boardmans a successful resolution of this case.

I have been a practitioner of several cosmic disciplines for many years and, indeed, it takes patience, consistency and persistence. For over two years I have been doing Tai Chi, which I love. Good going, you guys.

Animals will always have the right to live in earth. Because like us they are also created by God. I suggest we continue supporting different charities that aim to help them. Let's have car donation, food, or pet houses as gift for them.

In the past, I walked my dog without a leash. I had no idea that one could be fined for this.

Great post!

This is an interesting case. Several years ago, there was a ninety year old woman who fell down a small flight of stairs inside a restaurant, and subsequently died from the injuries. The family sued for negligence. I don‘t know the outcome, but I remember believing at the time that it seemed like a frivolous lawsuit. If anything, the family should have been assisting her more closely. As I see the problems facing the elderly, such as my own mother, I’m beginning to realize that it is not always that clear cut.

Good luck with the case.
